Ngululu Bulk Carriers (Pty) Ltd was known as Lukas Potgieter Vervoer (Edms) Bpk. In April 2004, Ngululu carriers (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ngululu Holdings Ltd., bought a 10% shareholding in the company. By exercising the options granted to it, Ngululu Carriers (Pty) Ltd increased its shareholding in the company to 26% in 2004 and 51% in 2009, thus making it one of the few black controlled companies in the transport sector. The company changed its name to Ngululu Bulk Carriers (Pty) Ltd, as it is currently known.
